On the last day of 2004 we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone that helped make this past year so successful for UG. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all! We now look to 2005 as the year to strengthen our foothold on the international radar, starting with the incredibly-busy first month of January.
Although it is too early to talk about some projects, we can confirm pre-production on a music videos for Chicago's Tub Ring. As well, Tub Ring's upcoming DVD will be intensely worked on, toward a tentative worldwide release date of March 2005.
The response to Working Class Rock Star is growing steadily, with our significant bandwidth nearly overloaded by everyone watching the newest trailer. January also marks the release of our first worldwide, major-label release. Dog Fashion Disco's "The City is Alive Tonight" (Artemis Records) will be available in stores everywhere on January 25th, backed by a large-spread television commercial campaign and special promotion by Tower Records. It can already be pre-ordered at any Amazon-based website in the world.

UG crews were in Cleveland on the weekend to shoot the very first show of "The Alter Boys" (featuring members of Dog Fashion Disco, Mushroomhead and Unified Culture). We will be cutting a couple of live tracks together for promotion through Fractured Transmitter, their label's website.
The iFORANi video has been completed for a while, and will be released online as soon as the band has completed mastering their upcoming album.

Unstable Ground is beginning production on a North American TV Spot for Artemis Records to help promote Dog Fashion Disco's upcoming live album "The City Is Alive Tonight". Available January, this 2-disc set will include "DFD-DAY", the feature-length concert film produced by the UG team. Spot will air on MTV's Headbanger's Ball and Fuse TV's Uranium in the US.

The Tub Ring live shoot yesterday was a success. 5 cameras worth of good footage to contribute to a great DVD in the making. Expect a release in early 2005. Here is a photograph
taken last night (thanks Bob) of Jason (bass - Tub Ring) using UG's Justin McConnell as a human guitar pick.

We have started production on the upcoming DVD for Invisible Records artist Tub Ring (Chicago, Illinois). A 5-Camera crew will be travelling to Barrie, Ontario tomorrow night to shoot their Halloween Night set. Special thanks goes out to Sinikill Productions and Club C'est LaVie for their support. This DVD promises to be a very unique and entertaining wide-distribution band release.
"Hitlist" is currently being featured on CBC's 2-hour Zed Halloween special. It aired last night at 11:35pm and will air again on October 31st at midnight. Read more about the special, where "Hitlist" is currently the #1 rated video out of the 111 selections showcased.
19/10/04
We are currently producing a hip-hop instructional dance DVD for talented instructor Micaila Murray. This DVD will be brought to many schools as part of her instructional program. Web design has also been completed on a site for great sculptor and FX artist Ryan Keith (Harold and Kumar, Final Destination, Reindeer Games).
06/10/04
Photography has been completed on the iFORANi video, and the footage looks great. The RPO video is awaiting final mixing of the track before the official version is released on MuchMusic and other networks.
On another note, Unstable Ground has begun work with Trailervision/Elevator Films on various projects. So far we have edited the extended interview special features for the Stupidity DVD (featuring the likes of Joel Schumacher, Noam Chomsky, Bill Maher and more) and done additional editing on their Discovery Channel pilot "Why Is It Sexy?". We hope this will be the beginning of a beneficial working relationship.
07/09/04
Lots of new projects on the plate for the coming fall. Some are too early to talk about, but we can confirm video production for iFORANi (Crazy Lady Records).
Bloodshoteye's "Hitlist" began rotation on MuchLoud and aired on MuchMusic's "Loud" show the past weekend. Plans are in effect to get it airplay on other networks, to coincide with Bloodshoteye's current cross-Canada tour. The video also appeared as part of the Lamb of God showcase episode of Metal Injection's weekly series. The showcase event on August 17th was a big success. The bands played to a nearly sold out house, and a great time was had by all.
17/08/04
Our third and biggest showcase event takes place at Club Rockit tonight. If you aren't planning on going, make plans to go. This show is going to be great. Videos for RPO and Bloodshoteye have been completed and will be premiered tonight to the large crowd (there are a lot of presold tickets already). Expect to see these new videos online soon.
On other fronts, the Dog Fashion Disco live CD/DVD is complete, and a DVD for Tub Ring is in the works. Working Class Rock Star is still being shot, and is going very well.
19/07/04
The shoot for "Hitlist" was successfully completed yesterday. Thanks to the massive, hardworking crew for making this video a reality. This is only the beginning... things just get bigger from here!
15/07/04
We shoot "Hitlist" this weekend, so we're releasing some early design stuff for everyone to see. It's going to be a crazy video.
10/07/04
The big-budget shoot for Bloodshoteye's "Hitlist" is only a week away, and things are going well. Some impressive teams are lending their talent to make this video happen, so expect something great. The video will premiere at the showcase event on August 17th (tickets available now at Ticketmaster).
The new Dog Fashion Disco live CD/DVD is being worked on, and should be done within a couple of weeks. Look for it in stores everywhere in late August.
21/06/04
The third Unstable Ground showcase event promises to be big. Really big. Co-run by Inertia Entertainment, expect a hell of a night. So far the line-up is Dog Fashion Disco, Tub Ring, Bad Acid Trip, Bloodshoteye, Ditch, RPO, Daiquiri and a big-news secret opener that should please.
16/06/04
The Dog Fashion Disco shoot in Baltimore was a big success. After reviewing some of the footage we fully believe that this will be a very unique concert film. Post-production is starting soon. Expect this DVD to be released nationally with the Artemis Records live album sometime in August. The audio is being mixed and mastered by the talented Drew Mazurek (GWAR, Nothingface, Linkin Park, Zao).
10/06/04
An Unstable Ground crew will be travelling to Baltimore this weekend to shoot for Dog Fashion Disco's live DVD (to be included as a bonus disk with their Artemis Records released live CD).
01/06/04
We shot RPO's video for "Find Me" this past weekend, and the footage looks fantastic. But that isn't the biggest news by a longshot. Unstable Ground has been awarded VideoFACT funding to complete a shot- on-film, major-budget video for Bloodshoteye's "Hitlist". This will be the first UG video to be shot on film, and will make the most of it's substantial budget.
21/05/04
The DFDVD is now complete, after a few long delays in receiving some of the music videos. It is currently being replicated and should be available for sale in a couple of weeks. It's better than we could have ever expected, we doubt it will disappoint.
Bloodshoteye's video for "Hitlist" is being prepared for, and we will be shooting RPO's "Find Me" next weekend. We also have Dog Fashion Disco's next music video to gear up for, as well as videos for DeAdseX, and No Assembly Required's second video with us.
Our third showcase event is still coming, but is being moved to sometime in August. Some big news on the acts playing, which will be announced later.
30/03/04
The Working Class Rock Star webpage is now live. The preliminary documentary will be available online in a couple of days. Everyone check out www.workingclassrockstar.com when they get a chance.
26/03/04
The DFD live shoot is now cut. Awaiting rest of stuff to put together the "greatest DVD ever". Or at least, a pretty good one.
There is a third Unstable Ground Showcase event coming in July. This one will be the biggest yet, an 8 band festival with some kick ass headliners. We are co-promoting this show with Inertia Entertainment, so crowds should be big. More details in the coming weeks.
11/03/04
The DFD live shoot was a big success. 6 cameras of killer footage. We'll soon begin work on the DVD.
06/03/04
The documentary is going very well so far. There are approximately 24 tapes shot now, and we've had nothing but support from tons of bands. A major press kit, including a 10-minute preliminary doc will be ready by mid-March, so that we can approach possible investors. Our goal is to go out on the road with a number of lower-level touring bands and get the best footage possible. In addition, we will be shooting the RCD Music/Gen Sub Showcase today at the B-Side, including the industry round table. The doc has it's own website now, www.workingclassrockstar.com, which will come up online officially sometime this month.
Now some more big news: Unstable Ground is organizing a 6-camera shoot for Dog Fashion Disco's set at Club Rockit on March 11th. Why? Because this footage is going to be part of the new, Unstable Ground produced Dog Fashion Disco DVD that will be sold across North America beginning May 1st! This is the first bit of UG work that will be available to the masses of this continent, but it won't be the last.
15/01/04
It's going to be a big year here at UG. There are a large number of music videos, short films, DVD's, and yes, even features coming to you. We recently completed the Miranda Rights video "Reject", which is now available to download. DVD's for Silent Treatment and Kenoma have been completed, and ST's follow-up to "Jade" is in the works.
Now the big news: Unstable Ground just started production on a feature-length documentary to be shot over the course of the next year. This will showcase the indie music scene and show what bands go through to get recognition. Any artists interested in contributing to this doc simply need to contact us. If you have a story, we have an arena for it to be told.
29/12/03
The Showcase went extremely well this time. Turnout was still a little poor, but the show went off amazingly. Thanks to everyone that helped, or contributed in any other way. Business has been increasing steadily, and we have a number of videos slated to arrive in the coming months.
03/11/03
The 2nd Unstable Ground/Second Skin showcase is tomorrow. We have a good feeling that turnout will be much better this time. We have a killer lineup, everything organized and ready to go. We have scrapped the design idea due to time constraints. This show will run similar to the last one, though some surprises will be had. We'd like to thank everyone contributing their efforts now, in advance. And if you are just hearing about this, come to the show.
09/09/03
Just a few quick updates. The Locobazooka trip went well. Along with some great backstage and tour footage, we ended up recording 40 Below Summer's set, which was amazing. We are going on the road again this month with No Assembly Required, to New York, where they will be playing a show with the legendary Dope. More great footage expected there.
The Devil's Night show has moved to November 4th. St. Catherine's metal-gods P.I.M.P. will be headling, with support from Midenora, Pureblank, Silent Treatment, RPO and Kenoma. The show is going to be heavily decorated with the help of our newest team member, a talented designer named Monique. Many advanced thank you's go to her for her help.
20/09/03
Big things are happening here at UG. Long time since the last update so lets bring everyone up to speed. First of all, a great deal of new videos are on the way. A new video for the band Silent Treatment will be uploaded within a week.
UG is also travelling to Locobazooka (in Fitchburg, MA) with No Assembly Required, who have been booked on this festival with big names like Staind, Powerman 5000, Ill Nino, 40 Below Summer and Hed(pe). UG will be shooting backstage and performance footage for NAR's upcoming DVD.
We also have a Devil's Night Bash show in planning, which promises to be bigger and better than the June 15th show. 6 bands are on the bill, including NAR, Midenora (aka Zero:Hour), Silent Treatment and RPO.
26/06/03
Here is a photo from the Showcase event on June 15th. This is during No Assembly Required's set, when all lead singers from attending bands were called onstage to help sing NAR's "11 Cent Solution". Frontmen from RPO, Unprovoked, Transfixt and Zero:Hour are shown here, along with Justin McConnell of Unstable Ground, and Kevin Hutchinson of Second Skin.
16/06/03
The showcase at the Kathedral went fairly well. All bands played great sets, and fun was had by all. Still, the turnout was rather poor, leading us to make sure to take slightly different approaches in the future. Being that it was Father's Day, a Sunday, and the beginning of exams for high school kids, the turnout could actually be considered rather good.
13/06/03
Happy Friday the 13th! The Kathedral show is this weekend, and looks like it's going to be a big success. 5 bands and some UG video work will make this an event to remember. We have also started the new UG music EP, currently titled E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event).
15/05/03
Unstable Ground has booked the Kathedral for the night of Sunday, June 15th. This will be an Unstable Ground showcase event, as well as a video release party for No Assembly Required's "Shove" video. We are currently booking bands to play the show, along with arranging for video to be played between sets. Doors will be at 7pm. More details to come later.
20/04/03
No Assembly Required's video for "Shove" was shot last weekend. The footage looks incredible, and we're very happy with the new DVX100. The Ep has been started, with a new track available in a few days. Wait until you hear how our sound has evolved.
04/02/03
The Unstable Ground studio has been upgraded considerably. Beyond a good amount of computer upgrades, a great deal of production equipment has been obtained. Not least of this is a new camera, the Panasonic AG DVX100. We now have the equipment necessary to guarantee that our prices remain low, while the quality of our productions increase.
25/01/03
"Huth" and "Check Mate" are up on two major online film sites. Over 40 reviews for each have been posted on Trigger Street. They are also up on the CBC site Zed. "Huth" is currently the music video of the day.
24/11/02
Come to the 360 on Queen Street on Friday, November 29. Another show is coming, in which "Huth", "Check Mate" and "The Experiment" will shown on a big screen. There will also be live bands and firebreathers. Doors are at 9pm. "Check Mate" will also be shown at the Filmmakers Film Festival on Sunday, December 1st between 2-6:30pm.
10/11/02
Unstable Ground is expanding! We are currently in the middle of purchasing some high-end production equipment (jib arm, dolly track, DV steadicam) and more. The purpose is to bring our clients the highest quality product possible while keeping costs low. If we own, we don't need to rent.
01/10/02
The "Huth" video and "Check Mate" will be projected at the 360 on Queen street in Toronto on the night of October 11th. Come on out and see it.
21/08/02
Unstable Ground is currently building it's client base. Also, we are in talks to obtain full time access to a professional and talented make-up/prosthetic effects team. On the music side, the first album is complete (and was recently played at the Reverb in Toronto). The "Huth" video is undergoing it's final processing at MuchMusic, before it hits TV at the end of August. A major project is also in the works. Check back often for details.
20/07/02
The new company webpage is up and running. All video files work, and the new server is working perfectly. There are some big projects in the future, including a feature project that begins production soon. On the music front, the self-titled debut album is almost done. Check back frequently for updates. Also important: our facilities are moving out of downtown Toronto, to the west end. We have secured a space that will offer a more comfortable environment to work in for both staff and clients.
